Job Description

Senior Compliance Officer owning global compliance for BHFT, a proprietary algorithmic trading firm. Advising trading teams and governing algorithmic trading across asset classes and jurisdictions.

Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of global compliance across commodities, rates, equity futures, options on futures, and equities
  • Provide real-time trading guidance across all asset classes and venues
  • Build and maintain a pre-cleared rules framework for recurring desk queries
  • Advise development, trading, and operations teams on compliant tools and processes
  • Build and maintain an algo trading governance framework covering pre-deployment approvals, ongoing monitoring, change management, business continuity, information security, and annual review
  • Oversee new market and product approvals
  • Supervise trade surveillance across all venues
  • Oversee regulatory and exchange affairs, including filings, registrations, regulator and exchange inquiries, client due-diligence reviews, and FCM interface
  • Maintain the policy framework and run the training program across all regions
  • Oversee AML and sanctions screening of vendors and counterparties
  • Supervise and develop two Compliance Officers
  • Represent compliance in cross-functional discussions with risk, development, and front office
  • Serve as escalation point for non-routine compliance matters

Requirements:

  • Hands-on experience building compliance tools and systems, not only policy and procedure work
  • Direct experience in a compliance role at a proprietary trading firm, market maker, electronic trading venue, or trading desk
  • Experience across commodities, rates, equity futures, options on futures, and equities
  • Working knowledge of algo trading controls and governance frameworks
  • Familiarity with multi-venue regulatory obligations across at least two of: US (CFTC/NFA), EU (MiFID II), India (SEBI), UK (FCA)
  • Knowledge of AML, recordkeeping, whistleblowing, and conflicts of interest policies
  • Ability to write, implement, and maintain compliance policies and procedures
  • Ability to deliver timely, well-reasoned guidance while maintaining independence as a control function
  • Strong written communication for policies, procedures, and regulatory correspondence
  • Experience with equities compliance frameworks such as Reg SHO, short selling regimes, and locate obligations (nice to have)
  • Experience with exchange membership obligations including ICE, CME, LME, and NSE (nice to have)
  • Familiarity with position-limit regimes across multiple venues (nice to have)
  • Exposure to Chinese exchange connectivity (CTP) (nice to have)
  • Background in trade surveillance systems and alert handling (nice to have)
  • Experience building compliance frameworks from scratch (nice to have)
  • Experience automating AML/sanctions screening workflows (nice to have)
