Job Description

Senior Data Analyst supporting Nucleus, a retirement platform provider, by burning down Change backlogs. Building SQL, Power BI and Microsoft Fabric reports, models and data outputs.

Responsibilities:

  • Own, triage, size and prioritise the Change and reporting backlog and drive items through to completion
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and explain data constraints and options to Change
  • Complete source profiling, mapping, model design and non-functional requirements for larger data engineering work
  • Build, test and release defined reports, semantic models and data extracts using SQL, Power BI and Microsoft Fabric
  • Maintain backlog size, throughput and burn-down reporting for the Data Lead and Change stakeholders
  • Validate outputs, apply standards for definitions and reconciliation, and resolve report discrepancies
  • Handle day-to-day data requests while the permanent team is committed to the enterprise and corporate systems integration project
  • Support analysts and developers through specification review, peer review and knowledge sharing
  • Participate in sprint planning, stand-ups and retrospectives and improve team processes
  • Document delivered items, decisions and remaining backlog for handover at the end of the contract

Requirements:

  • Strong SQL skills for complex analysis, query optimisation and reconciliation across systems
  • Experience building Power BI semantic models, DAX measures and reports
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse, Data Pipelines, notebooks and semantic models, or strong equivalent cloud data platform experience
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications for data engineers
  • Experience owning and burning down a backlog, sizing work, prioritising with stakeholders and delivering to committed dates
  • Experience working with Change, operations and senior stakeholders
  • Understanding of data governance principles, definitions, lineage and reconciliation
  • Awareness of data protection where outputs include personal or client data
  • Ability to guide analysts and developers through review and knowledge sharing
  • Experience in financial services, platforms or another regulated environment desirable
  • Experience working in an Agile delivery environment
