Job Description
Analyst with expertise in Natural and Adabas, responsible for data migration projects and collaboration with technical teams. Work in a remote capacity with a global scope.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze Adabas databases, including file structures and descriptors, with a focus on data extraction and migration.
- Assess Natural applications with native front-ends, identifying how data is transformed, consolidated, and presented to the user.
- Interpret and document business rules implemented in the front-end, even when they are not explicitly documented.
- Translate display and data transformation rules into a format that is understandable and reusable within the new data structure.
- Support the definition of the target data model, ensuring migrated data accurately reflects the current presentation logic.
- Serve as a liaison between technical, data, and architecture teams during the decommissioning of Natural/Adabas solutions.
Requirements:
- Strong expertise in Natural (batch and online).
- Solid experience with Adabas, including reading structures, descriptors, and implicit relationships.
- Knowledge of access control and security in mainframe environments.
- Advanced ability to read, analyze, and understand legacy Natural code.
- Experience with extraction, transformation, and data migration processes.
- Familiarity with data modeling for modern environments (relational, analytical, or other defined targets).
