Job Description
Full Stack Engineering Team Lead guiding hands-on development of identity authentication and fraud prevention software. Leading architecture, cloud engineering, delivery, and engineer development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day technical direction to a full stack engineering team
- Contribute hands-on to design, development, testing, deployment, and support of production software
- Guide architecture and design across front-end, back-end, cloud, and infrastructure components
- Break down complex initiatives into actionable technical work and help estimate effort and dependencies
- Mentor engineers and facilitate technical discussions
- Review code and reinforce standards for quality, maintainability, scalability, security, observability, and testing
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate them into technical solutions
- Identify risks, blockers, and dependencies and drive appropriate action
- Improve development practices, tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and ways of working
- Promote ownership across deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support
- Build a collaborative culture grounded in accountability, knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and Mitek’s values
- Deliver reliable, high-quality software against clear priorities
- Document and communicate pragmatic architecture and technical decisions
- Support engineers’ effectiveness and development
- Improve platform maintainability, operability, security, and scalability while delivering customer value
Requirements:
- Significant professional software engineering experience, including experience leading technical work or mentoring other engineers
- Strong back-end development experience; production experience with Go highly desirable
- Strong experience with JavaScript and single-page application frameworks, particularly React
- Track record of designing and delivering production-grade full stack applications
- Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, distributed systems, and modern application development practices
- Experience building clean, maintainable, production-hardened code and writing unit, integration, and performance tests
- Experience with Amazon Web Services; exposure to S3, SQS, ECS, EC2, and Lambda particularly relevant
- Proficiency with Git, collaborative software development workflows, code reviews, and modern engineering practices
- Ability to translate business and product requirements into practical technical solutions
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, including guiding resolution of complex production issues
- Professional fluency in written and spoken English
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Preferred: TypeScript, Redux, HTML, CSS, Freemarker or Thymeleaf
- Preferred: MongoDB, DocumentDB, or RavenDB
- Preferred: CloudFormation, Terraform, or comparable infrastructure-as-code technology
- Preferred: NPM or comparable package manager and Cypress or similar front-end testing tools
- Preferred: Serverless technologies or microservices architectures
- Preferred: Bash scripting and familiarity with Java, Groovy, or Python
- Preferred: Agile team experience and stakeholder coordination
- Preferred: Previous Technical Lead, Team Lead, Lead Engineer, or similar player-coach experience
