Job Description
Senior Software Engineer developing Red Hat’s OCI registry features and Quay.io infrastructure. Maintaining AWS-based systems, Kubernetes platforms, and reliability operations.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop new features and functionalities for OCI registries inside Red Hat, including quay.io and registry.redhat.io
- Maintain virtual globally distributed infrastructure for quay.io running on Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS, including EC2, Aurora Postgres, RDS Proxy, Kinesis, Lambda, S3, CloudFront, and more
- Use Kubernetes, OpenShift, Linux, Go, Python, JavaScript, React, Git, Redis, SQL, and OCI to maintain and grow quay.io
- Work with Product Management to drive business and roadmap decisions around Quay.io
- Collaborate with internal teams to unify the quay.io service experience with the rest of the Red Hat portfolio
- Participate in and contribute to weekly on-call rotation responsibilities
- Mentor other Quay.io Engineers and help coordinate overall team efficiency
- Provide architectural guidance for scaling quay.io to handle future growth
- Lead post-mortems, define alerts, and reduce time to recovery following service incidents
- Own documentation for quay.io and registry.redhat.io, providing guidance and support for peers and customers
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
- Four (4) years of experience in the job offered or related role
- Four (4) years of experience with Python, JavaScript, React, Git, and Linux
- Four (4) years of experience with databases and writing SQL queries, including Postgres, Redis, and ORMs
- Four (4) years of experience with Kubernetes and OpenShift, including writing, deploying, and managing Operators in Go
- Four (4) years of experience with SaaS development and on-call support for web applications running on AWS
- Four (4) years of experience with OCI and container registries, and Docker or Podman
- Four (4) years of experience with CI/CD and releases
- One (1) year of experience with agentic coding using Claude Code and/or Cursor
