Job Description
Part-time software developer completing narrated coding tasks for Mercor’s AI-lab research projects. Building, debugging, and reviewing code to generate training data for frontier models.
Responsibilities:
- Complete and narrate real software development tasks on a Mac
- Build, debug, refactor, and review code
- Create high-quality training data for advanced AI models
- Work through real development workflows to benchmark and improve cutting-edge AI models
- Submit a resume and complete a 3-minute AI interviewer conversation
- Complete a brief paid assessment
- Receive follow-up communication regarding application status and next steps
Requirements:
- 2-3 years of professional coding experience, or currently enrolled postgraduate Computer Science student
- Must own a MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series chip or Intel processor, running macOS 15 or higher
- Applicants without a Mac cannot be considered
- Hands-on experience with one or more programming languages, such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Swift, Java, or Go
- Comfortable with developer tools on macOS, including VS Code, Xcode, Terminal, Git, and package managers
- Currently pursuing or recently completed Masters studies, or 2-3 years of relevant experience plus a Bachelors from a prestigious institution
- Ability to clearly explain reasoning while working
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to work as an independent contractor
- H1-B and STEM OPT candidates are not supported
