Job Description
Senior Platform Engineer building agentic AI systems and AWS infrastructure for Porch’s home-inspection software platform. Owning PHP services, ECS operations, and MySQL/Aurora performance at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Build AI features end to end, including retrieval, context engineering, structured output, tool/function calling, and evaluation harnesses
- Design and operate multi-agent and multi-step orchestration systems with task decomposition, tool routing, state and memory, retries, fallbacks, human-in-the-loop checkpoints, and guardrails
- Operate non-deterministic AI systems with tracing, CI evaluations, prompt and model versioning, token and latency budgets, model routing, and cost controls
- Own ECS container platform operations, including service definitions, task sizing, autoscaling, blue/green deployments, and orchestration for long-running services and asynchronous workers
- Architect AWS event-driven and serverless infrastructure using Lambda, SQS/SNS, and EventBridge, with IAM and network design managed as infrastructure as code
- Build and extend production PHP services, integrating AI capabilities into existing product surfaces
- Drive database performance at scale through schema design, indexing, replication, read scaling, zero-downtime migrations, and query performance work across MySQL and Aurora
- Raise team standards through code review, design documents, mentorship, incident response, and on-call participation
Requirements:
- 10+ years building and running production software, with ownership of systems at scale
- Hands-on experience shipping LLM-backed features, including agent orchestration, RAG, evaluation, and operational reliability
- Strong PHP 8.x skills in a mature, high-traffic codebase
- Deep AWS architecture experience
- Hands-on ECS operations experience
- Infrastructure as code experience with Terraform or CDK
- CI/CD experience
- Expert-level relational database skills with MySQL and/or Aurora
- Ability to read and act on database execution plans
- Strong fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, observability, and application security
- Clear written communication and sound judgment about technical tradeoffs
- Nice to have: Go, MCP or comparable agent-tooling standards, vector search and embedding pipelines, Kubernetes, document and image extraction pipelines, or real estate/proptech/field-services domain experience
- Must be eligible to work in the United States; Porch Group is an E-Verify employer
