Job Description
Senior Project Manager leading complex substation projects for GE Vernova’s Grid Systems Integration business. Coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, stakeholders, risks, and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the execution of large, complex substation projects within GE Vernova’s Grid Systems Integration business.
- Coordinate multiple interdependent sub-projects and workstreams into an integrated delivery plan.
- Consolidate activities across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and customer interface workstreams.
- Review project scope against the GE Vernova quote during commercial-to-project-management handover.
- Lead internal and customer project kick-off meetings and assign roles and responsibilities.
- Drive project planning and execution from planning through delivery and handover.
- Establish and maintain project governance, including project reviews, action tracking, decision logs, escalation management, and leadership reporting.
- Monitor performance against key metrics and identify, assess, and mitigate risks, issues, delays, and cost impacts.
- Support sub-project leaders and functional teams in resolving cross-functional challenges and removing execution barriers.
- Manage customer communication and stakeholder coordination.
- Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, internal processes, quality standards, regulatory expectations, and safety requirements.
- Lead change management, including scope-change evaluation, schedule and cost impact assessment, and customer approvals or notifications.
- Prepare and present project status updates, forecasts, and executive summaries to leadership.
- Promote accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Support project closure, final deliverables, lessons learned, financial closure, and transition to warranty or service phases.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, operations, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant project management experience.
- Experience preferably in substations, grid infrastructure, energy, or other large and complex industrial projects.
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-workstream projects across cross-functional and international environments.
- Strong grounding in project management methodologies, tools, and governance frameworks.
- Experience engaging global or regional stakeholders in matrixed organizations.
- Ability to lead with structure and urgency while balancing competing priorities.
- Clear communication across teams, customers, and senior leadership.
- Ability to design scalable frameworks and anticipate operational needs.
- Root-cause diagnosis, ambiguity management, and practical solution delivery.
- Ability to use data, metrics, and trends to inform decisions and measure impact.
- Skill in driving organizational change, building stakeholder buy-in, and leading adoption across diverse teams.
- Up to 15% travel based on business needs.
- French language proficiency is an asset.
- Access to U.S. export-controlled information may require authorization from the U.S. Government.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable.
- Preferred: advanced degree or relevant certifications such as PMP, Lean, or Six Sigma.
- Experience in substation or grid project environments is a strong advantage.
