Job Description
Senior Python Engineer building real-time collaborative document infrastructure for PandaDoc’s workflow automation SaaS. Designing Python microservices, event pipelines, and AI-powered document capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Design and evolve backend systems powering real-time collaborative document editing for tens of thousands of concurrent users
- Own the content model and data persistence layer, including schema design, migrations, compatibility, and long-term maintainability
- Build and maintain event-driven pipelines using Kafka and NATS
- Process high volumes of frontend interactions and maintain consistent document state across services
- Contribute to reliability, observability, and operational excellence of Python microservices
- Ship product features end-to-end from backend architecture through production monitoring
- Contribute to AI-powered capabilities, including agentic document workflows
- Collaborate within the Content engineering team on document editing, persistence, and real-time collaboration infrastructure
Requirements:
- 5+ years of Python development experience in production environments
- Strong experience with relational databases, SQL, schema design, migrations, and query optimization
- Hands-on experience with message queues and event-driven architectures, including Kafka, NATS, RabbitMQ, or similar
- Deep understanding of AsyncIO and concurrent systems
- Experience building and operating microservice architectures at scale
- Ability to reason about distributed systems, consistency, ordering, and failure modes
- Understanding of the full development lifecycle from requirements through deployment and production monitoring
- Active use of AI tools in daily workflow and critical evaluation of their output
- Effective written and oral English communication
- AI agent, LLM-powered workflow, or agentic system experience is nice to have
