Job Description
Senior Snowflake Engineer building scalable pipelines and analytics data platforms for Lateral’s client products. Optimizing Snowflake, SQL, ingestion, modeling, quality, and delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable Snowflake data pipelines and transformation logic using SnowSQL, Snowpark, Streams, Tasks, and Warehouses
- Build and optimize complex SQL, stored procedures, UDFs, and performance-tuned queries
- Implement data ingestion frameworks and integrations from APIs, files, SaaS systems, cloud storage, and other sources
- Model and structure data using 3NF, Data Vault, and dimensional modeling
- Optimize Snowflake compute usage, warehouse sizing, caching strategies, and cost-performance tradeoffs
- Ensure data quality, lineage, observability, and reliability throughout the pipeline lifecycle
- Improve CI/CD processes for data development, including version control, automated testing, and safe deployment patterns
- Work with TPMs and client stakeholders to clarify requirements, scope data work, communicate progress, and align timelines
- Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and product teams to deliver business-focused data solutions
- Contribute to documentation, coding standards, and data engineering best practices
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering
- At least 2–3 years dedicated to Snowflake development
- Advanced SQL expertise, including optimized queries, analytical functions, complex transformations, and performance tuning
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake Warehouses, RBAC, Streams, Tasks, Snowpipe, external stages, and data sharing
- Strong experience with ETL/ELT tools and orchestration such as dbt, Airflow, Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or Matillion
- Experience modeling data for analytics and operational systems, including star/snowflake schemas and Data Vault
- Deep understanding of data quality, governance, schema design, and lifecycle management
- Comfort working with AWS, Azure, or GCP cloud data ecosystems
- Experience integrating Snowflake with Tableau, Looker, Power BI, and downstream consumers
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
