Job Description
Senior Software Developer at DeutschAkademie managing complex software systems and technical innovations. Role involves mentoring and driving architectural decisions in a fully remote setting.
Responsibilities:
- Design, planning and implementation of complex systems and core components
- Driving technical decisions and architectural standards within the team
- Performing extensive refactorings
- Analyzing and resolving complex performance and scalability issues
- Writing technical specifications for complex features, defining epics and setting technical guidelines
- Taking on technical mentorship responsibilities for junior and mid-level developers
- Initiating technological innovations and continuous improvements
Requirements:
- Degree in (business) computer science, web development or a comparable qualification
- At least 5 years of professional experience
- At least 2–3 years in a role with architectural responsibility
- Strong knowledge of PHP (backend) and JavaScript/HTML/CSS (frontend)
- Experience working with WordPress
- Knowledge of Symfony is a plus
- Expertise in software architectures (microservices, monoliths, etc.), Domain-Driven Design (DDD), and security
- SEO knowledge for site optimization
- Extensive experience with infrastructure and cloud services
- Familiarity with CI/CD standards and quality assurance processes
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Native-level German (at least C2) and very good English (C1 level)
