Job Description
Senior backend engineer building TypeScript and Node.js systems for Dave’s banking and payments platform. Designing secure, scalable infrastructure that helps millions of Americans move money reliably.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient backend services using TypeScript and Node.js
- Own and evolve distributed systems supporting banking, card management, payment processing, and partner integrations
- Architect technical solutions balancing immediate business needs with long-term scalability, maintainability, and security
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business goals into technical solutions
- Identify risks, optimize performance, and strengthen observability through logging and monitoring
- Design efficient data models and storage solutions across SQL and NoSQL databases
- Participate in code reviews and mentor teammates through constructive feedback
- Refactor systems, reduce technical debt, and share knowledge across the team
- Influence the long-term evolution of Dave’s banking platform and build reliable infrastructure for millions of members
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 4+ years of software engineering experience focused on backend development
- Professional experience building backend applications with TypeScript and Node.js
- Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, design patterns, and algorithms
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs
- Experience building scalable distributed systems and cloud-native applications
- Strong problem-solving skills for complex technical challenges
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Ability to thrive in an agile environment while balancing independent ownership with collaboration
- Experience integrating with enterprise payment processors is a bonus
- Experience with PCI-compliant environments or highly regulated industries is a bonus
- Familiarity with banking, payment infrastructure, or financial services platforms is a bonus
- Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
