Job Description
Senior Software Engineer building scalable financial-data and payment infrastructure for Marqeta’s embedded finance platform. Designing services, automating releases, and resolving production issues across distributed systems.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement high-performance solutions for large-scale, high-volume, high-velocity financial data and complex compliance landscapes
- Develop software and infrastructure for repeatable, efficient, high-quality releases through automation
- Replace redundant tasks and improve engineering focus on strategic challenges
- Debug and resolve critical production issues across services and system layers
- Incorporate customer needs and product stakeholder input into technical solutions
- Analyze data, detect patterns, and document findings for non-technical audiences
- Lead design for medium components and features
- Participate in design for larger components and features
- Collaborate with teammates and cross-functional partners to deliver reliable, high-quality outcomes
Requirements:
- 5+ years of industry experience in software development
- Experience with Java, service-oriented architectures, and cloud computing; AWS preferred
- Experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Experience with a front-end framework such as React or Next.js
- Knowledge of CSS/HTML
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker
- Knowledge of design patterns in scalable distributed systems and core computer science concepts
- Experience with OAuth 2.0, JWTs, and user session management
- Experience designing, building, and maintaining web and mobile applications
- Ability to develop clean, readable, error-free code with documentation and testing
- Ability to understand existing designs and technology choices and make appropriate adjustments
- Clear, concise, and respectful verbal and written communication
- Ability to communicate task-level trade-offs affecting the product
- Ability to demonstrate humility, empathy, and receptiveness to constructive feedback
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and project delivery skills
- Ability to work productively on cross-functional, collaborative teams
- Nice to have: experience with payments or FinTech
- Nice to have: experience with big data analytics tools such as Snowflake and stream processing architectures
- Nice to have: contributions to technical blogs, public GitHub repositories, or open source projects
