Job Description
Principal Software Engineer architecting Node.js SaaS applications at Precisely, a data integrity and location intelligence company. Leading technical design, stakeholder requirements, and AI-enabled engineering workflows.
Responsibilities:
- Design and architect scalable, robust, and high-performance Node-based applications
- Ensure software solutions meet business, performance, scalability, and reliability requirements
- Lead architecture for all components in an investment segment
- Design systems in the investment segment
- Support the Product Manager in product planning and business performance for one or more products
- Understand stakeholder requirements and turn them into consumable backlog items
- Write technical user epics and stories with user acceptance criteria
- Participate in story grooming exercises
- Coordinate with architects to ensure technology decisions are made and implemented
- Identify business process improvements and automation opportunities
- Mentor and guide a team of engineers
Requirements:
- 8-10+ years of experience in software engineering, focused on data-intensive and scalable SaaS applications
- Expert-level Node.js experience for backend application development and architecture is required
- Java experience is a plus but not required
- Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in a technical field
- Track record of designing and developing data products or software products
- Expertise in Node for backend development
- Familiarity with frontend scripting languages such as React is a plus
- Expertise with databases, particularly Mongo Atlas, and developing/consuming REST APIs
- Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and microservices architecture is a must
- Basic understanding of agile and scrum methodologies is a must
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, GCP, Redis, Security Domain, Datadog, and Codefresh is advantageous
- Working knowledge of data ETL is preferred
- Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and active listening
- Ability to set and meet time-sensitive goals
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and adapt to change while providing structure to operations and go-to-market teams
- Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or Amazon CodeWhisperer
- Experience using AI-powered code review agents
- Ability to evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability
- Familiarity with LLM APIs or agentic workflows
- Comfort incorporating generative AI tools into daily engineering workflows
- Preferred: GitHub spec-driven development, constitutions and skills/agents MD, agentic workflows and multi-step AI pipelines, prompt engineering and fine-tuning strategies, AI observability and evaluation frameworks, RAG patterns and vector database integrations, AI tooling adoption leadership or mentoring, and responsible AI principles
