Job Description

Senior QA Engineer building automation frameworks and testing strategies for NMDP. Advancing software quality for the organization’s life-saving healthcare mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver automation testing for the NMDP Information Technology Quality Assurance team
  • Plan, design, and develop automation frameworks to move manual regression tests into automation
  • Mentor project teams on automation and performance testing
  • Direct and execute automation test activities and provide reporting
  • Provide QA leadership and promote QA best practices, quality culture, and continuous improvement
  • Identify, report, and resolve quality risks, issues, and barriers
  • Lead or coordinate performance, load, security, functional, smoke, regression, and user acceptance testing
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, customers, IT project teams, business partners, and operations partners
  • Design, build, organize, and maintain test scripts and automation framework libraries
  • Write test scripts for web services, messaging, database validation, file handling, and XML parsing
  • Track and report automation testing results
  • Develop utility programs and research and install new automation tools and methodologies
  • Support production testing, defect triage, hot fixes, release regression, smoke testing, and post-implementation transitions
  • Mentor QA team members and developers on automation best practices
  • Contribute to enterprise-wide QA automation standards and initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, math, or related technical field requiring programming; equivalent related experience and/or education may substitute
  • 10 years’ experience in IT, including QA experience with software testing tools, techniques, and methodologies
  • 5 years of formal software test automation experience with Windows and client-server applications
  • 5 years of Agile development experience
  • 3 years of Salesforce automation and/or development experience for Salesforce roles only
  • Knowledge of quality assurance principles and integration, system, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing
  • Object-oriented design and programming skills in Java, C#, JavaScript, Python, or another modern object-oriented language
  • Experience with GitLab, GitHub, Maven, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Drone, JIRA, ALM, Selenium WebDriver, TestNG, JUnit, or similar tools
  • Experience designing test strategies and plans, conducting quality reviews, implementing quality standards, tracking defects, and resolving system/environment issues
  • Experience leading QA teams and reporting project status and risks
  • Experience implementing a Quality Management System measured by ISO 25010 and working with ISO 9001 standards
  • Experience in regulated industries such as healthcare or life sciences and applying GxP or FDA-aligned validation practices
  • Experience with test automation and performance testing
  • Experience measuring QA effectiveness and creating enterprise metrics
  • Experience working with cross-functional/matrixed teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including communication with executive management
