Job Description
C#/.NET developer stabilizing and modernizing legacy backend applications for an IT services team in Romania. Fixing bugs, reducing technical debt, and expanding automated test coverage.
Responsibilities:
- Further develop and stabilize an existing C#/.NET backend application landscape
- Fix bugs and analyze errors across interdependent applications
- Perform targeted refactoring and gradually implement automated tests
- Reproduce reported errors using available information
- Communicate with users during error analysis
- Document causes and solutions
- Ensure bug fixes do not cause side effects
- Identify critical maintainability problems
- Simplify complex methods and classes
- Reduce code duplication and improve source-code readability
- Introduce clear responsibilities within classes
- Eliminate obvious anti-patterns
- Improve error handling, logging, exception handling, validations, and plausibility checks
- Create tests for modified or refactored components
- Build phased test coverage for critical business logic
- Create regression tests for fixed bugs
- Support code reviews and implement review comments traceably
- Communicate risks and impacts of changes early
Requirements:
- Several years of experience in software development with C# and .NET
- Experience maintaining and further developing legacy applications
- Confident handling of object-oriented programming
- Experience with Visual Studio and Git
- Knowledge of analyzing complex existing codebases
- Debugging experience
- Ability to evaluate and improve existing software architectures
- Experience with refactoring while preserving existing functionality
- Understanding of Clean Code principles
- Experience reducing technical debt
- Experience with unit tests such as xUnit, NUnit, or MSTest
- Ability to introduce automated tests into existing applications
- Experience with mocking frameworks such as Moq
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for building and deploying applications in Azure DevOps is advantageous
