Job Description
Software Development Engineer I at QuillBot focusing on building user-facing web applications using React and TypeScript. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement product requirements effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain user-facing features using React, TypeScript, and modern CSS with a focus on usability, performance, and reliability.
- Work on well-defined frontend modules and components, delivering high-quality code with guidance from senior engineers.
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and backend engineers to implement product requirements accurately.
- Follow established best practices for code quality, testing, and documentation.
- Integrate frontend components with backend APIs, ensuring correct data flow and error handling.
- Participate in code reviews, incorporating feedback to improve code quality and consistency.
- Debug and resolve frontend issues in development and production environments.
- Contribute to improving developer experience through reusable components and small tooling enhancements.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of professional experience building web applications.
- Solid hands-on experience with frontend technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS.
- Understanding of DOM rendering, browser behavior, and basic performance optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with testing tools, debugging workflows, and version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Basic understanding of software design principles and frontend design patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills and eagerness to learn from feedback.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Experience developing highly interactive, performance-sensitive interfaces (e.g., Canvas- or SVG-based tools) will be considered an advantage.
