Job Description

Data Engineer specializing in SQL for modernization of data platforms. Focused on migrating legacy processes from SAS to SQL on Azure Synapse in São Paulo.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and optimize Stored Procedures in SQL.
  • Participate in the migration of SAS processes to Azure Synapse.
  • Interpret business rules embedded in SAS code.
  • Validate the consistency and equivalence of data between legacy and modern environments.
  • Perform data quality analysis, reconciliation, and identification of inconsistencies.
  • Collaborate with technical and business teams throughout the modernization process.
  • Contribute to performance improvements and optimization of implemented solutions.

Requirements:

  • Strong experience with SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • Development of Stored Procedures.
  • Experience with Views, CTEs, Window Functions, temporary tables, and transactions.
  • Knowledge of relational data modeling.
  • Experience handling large volumes of data.
  • Performance tuning and execution plan analysis.
  • Experience with ETL processes.
  • Experience in data validation and data quality (Data Quality).
  • Analytical ability to interpret business rules and investigate discrepancies between databases.
  • Knowledge of SAS (DATA STEP and PROC SQL) to interpret legacy code.
  • Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Knowledge of Git and code versioning.
  • Experience with PySpark and Spark SQL.
  • Experience in Data Warehouse migration, ETL, or data platform modernization projects.
  • Experience using AI tools to assist development, such as GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, Cursor, or ChatGPT.
