Job Description

Video editor creating realistic post-production tasks and reference edits for Mercor. Writing grading rubrics and solutions to train and evaluate AI agents.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute original footage personally shot and fully owned, or openly licensed footage
  • Author realistic video-editing briefs
  • Build post-production tasks end to end in editing software
  • Cut footage, introduce defects or distractors when required, and produce reference edits
  • Write concrete, checkable grading criteria with editorial reasoning
  • Blind-solve tasks created by other editors
  • Write step-by-step solutions for solved tasks
  • Answer questions about available footage, ownership, and consent for use
  • Work on projects training and enhancing AI systems

Requirements:

  • 5+ years editing professionally in film and TV, commercials, broadcast news, or creator and social production
  • Experience owning video deliverables end to end
  • Fluent in at least one professional editor: Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or Avid Media Composer
  • Basic color and audio cleanup skills
  • Comfortable with delivery specifications including resolution, frame rate, codecs, audio channel layouts, and frame-accurate cuts
  • Submit a resume and link to a reel or portfolio
  • Complete a short AI interview about editing background
  • Not open to residents of California
  • Must be an independent contractor
  • Unable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates
  • Professional footage ownership and appearance releases are a strong plus, not an absolute requirement
