Job Description

Accountant managing financial analyses and compliance with GAAP for Follett Software's educational technology. Responsible for accurate ledger maintenance and financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, contribute to, and/or review standard and specialized accounting reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Prepare and record journal entries related to balance sheet and income statement activity.
  • Create and maintain analytical schedules supporting financial statements, audits, strategic initiatives, and ad hoc requests.
  • Apply knowledge of accounting principles, GAAP, and relevant regulations to assigned responsibilities.
  • Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts and perform detailed financial statement variance analyses.
  • Advise internal departments, field personnel, and external partners on the appropriate handling of transactions with financial impact.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency and strengthen internal controls.
  • Participate in business requirements development, system design, testing, and issue identification/resolution related to financial systems and strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 2+years of progressive accounting experience preferred
  • CPA certification is a plus
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency in general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
  • Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
