Job Description
Actuary analyzing and establishing insurance rates and statistical data at Capital Blue Cross. Collaborating on financial projections and mentoring lower level employees while enhancing actuarial principles.
Responsibilities:
- Establishes insurance rates, rating structures, and rating systems for groups and categories
- Compiles, analyzes, and develops essential statistical data for current and future actuarial studies
- Assists in the performance of financial projections and actuarial analysis for one or more well-defined projects
- Completes pricing exercises independently and draws conclusions from the work
- Understands all pieces that go into the company forecast and analyses results
- Completes the monthly reserve process and verifies accuracy of results
- Analyzes and summarizes data gathered for core actuarial functions
- Completes management reports in a timely manner
- Begins to develop mentoring skills and helps teach lower level employees core actuarial principles
Requirements:
- Typically holds a Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science
- Belongs to the Society of Actuaries with the designation of ASA (Associate)
- 5 or more years of actuarial experience
- Strong analytical thinking skills
- Strong mathematical skills
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively internally and with other departments
- Detail oriented
- Actuarial experience
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access
