Job Description
AI Enablement Engineer building AI tools, automations, and production systems for Phorest’s global salon software platform. Measuring business impact and scaling effective solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Set the technical direction for AI Enablement
- Identify and lead solutions to complex, high-leverage problems across the business
- Establish engineering patterns and standards
- Work directly with functions to understand goals and workflows
- Prioritise opportunities where AI Enablement can create value
- Drive work from problem discovery through experimentation to measurable outcomes
- Prototype and deliver AI-powered tools, agents, automations and conventional software
- Make build-vs-buy decisions based on value, capability, cost, security and maintainability
- Build scalable, secure, observable, reliable and maintainable production systems
- Establish baselines and measure engineering, tooling and model costs against value created
- Create reusable capabilities, governance and ways of working
- Shape and manage AI tooling, security, production use and spend
- Share knowledge, mentor others and raise AI and engineering capability across the organisation
- Establish best practices and provide actionable feedback
- Lead an initial opportunity from discovery through experimentation into production
- Build a repeatable AI Enablement model and scale successful approaches
Requirements:
- Preferably 10+ years experience designing, building and operating complex production software
- Strong practical experience with modern AI, ideally including AI-powered products, internal AI tooling or production LLM applications
- Experience leading complex, high-impact technical initiatives across team or functional boundaries
- Strong architecture and software engineering fundamentals across APIs, integrations, cloud infrastructure, security, scalability, observability and reliability
- Strong product and commercial instincts
- Strong strategic judgement connecting technical decisions to business outcomes
- Ability to operate autonomously, influence without authority and drive critical work through to measurable outcomes
- Excellent communication, listening and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong judgement around build vs buy, governance, security, quality and cost
- Track record of raising the effectiveness of others through technical leadership, mentoring and knowledge sharing
- Strong growth mindset and commitment to actionable feedback
- Deep curiosity about AI and motivation to apply it to organisational improvements
- Experience with tools that help teams use AI, agentic systems, AI evaluation and orchestration, AI governance, and AI tooling/model spend management is nice to have
