Job Description

Associate Faculty teaching online graduate health care technology courses at University of Phoenix. Supporting student success through instruction, assessment, coaching, and mentorship.

Responsibilities:

  • Instruct undergraduate and/or graduate courses in specific disciplines according to University learning objectives and course outlines
  • Deliver course content, learning activities, and student assessments using current course materials
  • Provide supplemental knowledge and experience connecting course concepts to real-world applications
  • Make class materials available to students on a timely basis
  • Maintain an engaged online classroom presence and respond to student inquiries promptly
  • Create a supportive learning environment and proactively address academic issues
  • Provide coaching, tutoring, and additional resources as required
  • Oversee student clinical, practicum, and mentorship experiences when applicable
  • Attend faculty meetings, University events, and student graduations as required
  • Maintain current knowledge of course updates, instruction standards, and relevant information
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through employment, certification/licensure, conferences, publications, networks, and professional organizations
  • Instruct and perform related duties in an online environment
  • Maintain understanding of University technology and adapt to technology changes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree in Bioinformatics or Doctoral degree in Information Systems, OR 3 years’ experience in a healthcare related field
  • Doctoral degree in any area with 18 graduate semester credits in Information Technology and/or Health Information and/or Nursing Informatic Systems or related field, and/or a national certification in Healthcare Technology
  • At least 1 year of instructional experience teaching online at the graduate level
  • At least 5 years of experience managing health care technology systems
  • Degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Some healthcare related experience in the last 5 years; teaching in the area extends the currency requirement
  • One record of scholarship annually within a rolling one-year timeframe
  • Familiarity with adult education teaching and learning theory
  • High level of problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Technology proficiency, including Microsoft suite programs
  • Ability to convey a professional image and represent the University appropriately
