Job Description
Part-time virtual DNP Project Chair teaching and mentoring nursing students. Supporting evidence-based practice projects at University of Phoenix, a higher education institution.
Responsibilities:
- Instruct undergraduate and/or graduate courses according to University of Phoenix learning objectives and course outlines
- Deliver course content, learning activities, and student assessments using current course materials
- Provide supplemental knowledge connecting course concepts to real-world applications
- Make class materials available promptly to support participation and discussion
- Maintain an engaged classroom presence and respond to student inquiries in a timely manner
- Create a supportive learning environment and address student academic issues
- Coach, tutor, and identify additional resources to support student learning
- Oversee student clinical, practicum, and mentorship experiences as required
- Attend faculty meetings and University events, including General Faculty Meetings, Content Area Meetings, and student graduations
- Maintain current knowledge of course updates, instruction standards, and relevant faculty information
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through practice, certification/licensure, conferences, publications, networks, and professional organizations
- Teach and perform required duties in an online environment
- Maintain understanding of University technology and adapt to technology changes
- Perform other duties as assigned or apparent
Requirements:
- Doctorate in Nursing (DNP, DNS, PhD) requiring successful completion of a dissertation or culminating project
- 3 graduate semester credits in Research Methodology and/or Evidence-Based Practice and/or Quality Improvement or equivalent
- Professional experience in a leadership or management position
- 3 years of experience in doctoral level nursing practice
- Degree from a regionally accredited institution
- Active unencumbered or unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of residence or practice OR a multistate RN license
- 1–3 years of direct work with DNP students; preceptor or mentor experience qualifies
- Experience in doctoral-level healthcare practice, including administration, clinical, informatics, or consulting, subsequent to doctoral degree attainment
- Doctoral-level nursing practice, doctoral-level project leadership, or completion of a doctoral-level project through an earned Doctor of Nursing degree within the last 10 years
- One record of scholarship annually within a rolling one-year timeframe, meeting UOPX’s definition of scholarship engagement
- Familiarity with adult education teaching and learning theory
- High problem-solving and decision-making ability
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Technology proficiency, including Microsoft suite programs
- Ability to convey a professional image and represent the University appropriately
