Job Description

Asylum Paralegal supporting legal team in preparing asylum applications with a focus on Latin American clients. Conducting research and maintaining client case files remotely, requiring bilingual skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough and accurate client intake processes, including initial screenings, phone calls, emails, and the collection of necessary information for attorney review.
  • Support attorneys in preparing and filing asylum applications, with a particular focus on Latin American clients.
  • Prepare client declarations and gather, organize, and summarize supporting evidence for asylum cases.
  • Conduct detailed country conditions research, specifically related to Latin American countries, to support asylum applications.
  • Prepare and complete requisite forms for review by USCIS, EOIR, and other relevant legal entities.
  • Draft, edit, and proofread a variety of legal documents, including briefs, letters, filings, and other correspondence.
  • Manage case deadlines and maintain organized, up-to-date client case files and internal databases.
  • Maintain timely and professional communication with clients, ensuring clarity and accessibility throughout the legal process.
  • Compose insightful blog articles on legal topics relevant to asylum and immigration law to contribute to the firm’s online presence.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support the legal team across different practice areas.
  • Oversee administrative tasks as needed in support of attorneys and casework.

Requirements:

  • A degree in law, preferably with a strong focus on writing and research.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish, including exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other standard computer skills.
  • At least 2 years of experience working in a legal environment.
  • The ability to work remotely with reliable internet access and a computer is a must.
