Job Description
Business Intelligence Analyst involved in developing BI solutions for OHSU's Information Technology Group. Collaborating with clinical departments to enhance decision-making processes through data analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Use business requirements to develop BI solutions, including ad hoc operational and analytical reports, dashboards, and scheduled reports.
- Develops BI solutions using Business Objects: BOBJ Web Intelligence and Crystal Epic: Reporting Workbench reports & templates, Radar dashboards, SlicerDicer analyses, Column Editor, PAF creation, CER rules.
- Identify opportunities for leveraging existing reporting assets to meet business requirements.
- Work closely with other OHSU IT staff to meet expectations for design reviews and coding standards.
- Provide issue resolution during Quality Assurance / User testing.
- Troubleshoot and analyze data processing failures and data issues.
- Recommend changes to data models and metadata models to improve existing structures.
- Provide technical expertise to departmental analysts and clinical customers.
- Request migration of solution object through the SDLC.
- Validate and test with the customer as frequently as necessary to get sign-off that the solution meets the requirements.
- Conduct discovery sessions with end users to gather detailed requirements.
- Perform profiling of source data to identify data lineage.
- Serve as clinical BI content experts for cross-department projects.
- Oversee project task executions and report status to leadership.
- Facilitate coordination of solution with other groups.
- Continually work to improve existing processes and daily work.
Requirements:
- Master’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and four years of work-related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Bachelor’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and six years of work-related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Associate’s degree in computer science, a related field, or a clinical field and seven years of work-related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Eight years work related experience in the information technology field or a combination of clinical or operational healthcare environments; OR Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate’s degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum four years paid work experience as Data Analyst, Data Engineer, or BI Developer (or equivalent classification).
- Four years of experience with developing reports an dashboards in Business Objects Web Intelligence or equivalent toolset.
- Experience with facilitating and documenting system requirements sessions.
- Experience creating technical documentation of reports and data/report models.
- Minimum five years working with relational databases.
- Experience with utilizing star schema data stores as the basis for report development.
- Proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes and procedures.
- Ability to read and explain a data model.
- Ability to read, write and maintain SQL Code.
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
- Experience planning and managing small projects.
- Knowledge of data warehousing architecture and dimensional modeling concepts.
- Exceptional customer service skills - both in person and on the phone.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills - able to resolve conflicts and to problem solve between parties.
- Demonstrated evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently; willingness to serve as a positive and professional role model.
- Must have demonstrated record of reliable attendance, punctuality and proven successful performance in past and present.
- Experience mentoring and training junior team members and customers.
- Certifications Epic Clarity/Caboodle Certifications within 6 months of hire.
