Job Description

BI Engineer building trusted data models, Python ETL pipelines, and dashboards for Kodify’s high-traffic video websites. Analyzing business performance and enabling teams to make data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and own decision-useful dashboards
  • Answer business questions end to end, including LTV and retention, subscriptions, sales volume and take rate, and production and content performance
  • Build and maintain dbt models from staging through marts, including conventions, tests, and documentation
  • Work on Python ETL pipelines ingesting data from billing APIs, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and the columnar layer
  • Build new data sources, fix fragile components, and improve error handling and observability
  • Test work and validate numbers before stakeholder review
  • Translate vague stakeholder requests into scoped questions
  • Push back on unsuitable requests and propose better solutions
  • Enable business teams to answer recurring questions independently
  • Provide feedback on technology, development lifecycle, and processes
  • Take ownership of code, tasks, and role
  • Help make the business trust its numbers and continuously improve data quality
  • Participate in daily virtual stand-ups and collaborate during 10:00–15:00 CET/CEST core hours

Requirements:

  • Experience as a BI Engineer, Data Engineer, Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst with engineering depth, or similar
  • Strong SQL, ideally PostgreSQL, including complex transformations and window functions
  • Solid Python for data work, including pipelines, scripting, APIs, and data manipulation
  • Experience with dbt, including models, tests, macros, and documentation
  • Production experience with a BI/visualization tool such as Superset, Tableau, Power BI, or Looker, including its modeling layer
  • Solid building experience using AI and understanding of AI harnessing best practices such as claude.md, hooks, skills, rules, MCPs, and plugins
  • Up-to-date knowledge of AI models, agents, and tooling
  • Experience working with dimensional/analytical models and warehouses
  • Comfort with Git, code review, and modern software engineering practices applied to data
  • Genuine business curiosity

  • Experience with a columnar/analytical database such as ClickHouse, BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift is nice to have
  • Exposure to a semantic/metrics layer such as Cube.dev, dbt MetricFlow, or LookML is nice to have
  • Web analytics experience with event tracking, funnels, attribution, session, and behavioural data is nice to have
  • MongoDB as a source system is nice to have
  • Data cataloging, documentation, or lineage tooling is nice to have
  • Docker is nice to have
  • AWS is nice to have
  • Experience with high-traffic/high-volume data environments is nice to have
  • Understanding of Agile principles is nice to have
  • Experience working remotely is nice to have
  • Must be located in Europe
  • Full-time employee option is for Spain residents only; full-time contractor option is for other EU countries
