Job Description
Chief Medical Officer leading clinical governance, quality, and compliance for GardaWorld Federal Services’ federal detention healthcare programs. Remote U.S. role with up to 50% travel.
Responsibilities:
- Provide enterprise-wide physician leadership and clinical oversight for GWFS government healthcare programs
- Serve as principal medical advisor for healthcare operations, quality, patient safety, compliance, and strategic initiatives
- Establish and maintain clinical policies, procedures, treatment protocols, and standards of care
- Monitor compliance with NDS, PBNDS, HIPAA, federal regulations, accreditation standards, and contracts
- Oversee clinical quality management, peer review, utilization management, infection prevention, patient safety, and risk management
- Review healthcare outcomes, mortality reviews, sentinel events, incident reports, clinical audits, and corrective action plans
- Identify operational risks and implement improvements to quality, compliance, efficiency, and patient outcomes
- Conduct executive site visits, operational reviews, compliance assessments, and program evaluations
- Collaborate with corporate medical leadership on clinical, operational, staffing, quality, and compliance challenges
- Represent medical operations in interactions with government agencies, contracting officials, accreditation organizations, and stakeholders
- Support audits, inspections, accreditation surveys, government reviews, and contract performance evaluations
- Monitor staffing models and workforce readiness
- Oversee physician recruitment, credentialing, privileging, retention, succession planning, and provider performance management
- Develop and monitor KPIs, healthcare dashboards, quality metrics, and operational performance measures
- Prepare executive reports, clinical analyses, medical summaries, performance reviews, and strategic recommendations
- Support business development, proposals, capture activities, program transitions, and healthcare growth initiatives
- Promote professionalism, accountability, evidence-based practice, continuous improvement, and patient-centered care
Requirements:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited U.S. medical school or equivalent foreign medical school
- Foreign medical school graduates must maintain permanent ECFMG certification
- Current board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine/Preventive Health, Emergency Medicine, or another relevant clinical specialty
- Minimum 10 years of post-residency clinical practice experience, including at least 6 years of direct patient care as a physician
- Minimum 7 years of progressive physician leadership experience, including at least 3 years supervising physicians, medical professionals, and ancillary clinical staff
- Current, full, unrestricted medical license in at least one U.S. state or territory
- Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association, or ability to obtain it before clinical duties
- Current DEA registration, or ability to obtain and maintain required registrations
- Demonstrated experience in detention, correctional, federal, public health, or comparable complex healthcare environments
- Ability to obtain and maintain government clearances, facility credentials, and contractual qualifications
- Proof of U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
- Consent to fingerprinting, background investigations, and required security screening
- English proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding
- Extensive knowledge of detention healthcare operations, correctional healthcare, and federal healthcare programs
- Understanding of NDS, PBNDS, federal healthcare requirements, and regulatory standards
- Knowledge of quality assurance, performance improvement, peer review, infection prevention, patient safety, and risk management
- Strong executive leadership, physician management, analytical, decision-making, communication, organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to evaluate multi-site healthcare operations, clinical performance, staffing effectiveness, and compliance indicators
- Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to analyze healthcare data and develop strategic recommendations
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound medical judgment
- Ability to travel extensively across geographically dispersed healthcare programs
- Ability to remain stationary 50% of the time and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
