Job Description

Civil Designer creating land-development, infrastructure, utility, and public-works plans remotely from Nicaragua. Producing CAD models, surveys, grading, drainage, roadway, and stormwater designs.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee civil engineering projects for land development, public works, site infrastructure, and utility design
  • Use AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and other design software to create engineering plans, models, and construction documents
  • Conduct and oversee land surveys
  • Prepare grading, drainage, roadway, and utility plans in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
  • Review and analyze survey reports, maps, and legal land descriptions
  • Provide technical guidance and recommendations on design feasibility and cost-effective solutions
  • Perform site grading and earthwork, access road, stormwater, hydraulic and hydrology, detention pond, erosion and sedimentation control, infrastructure, and parking lot design
  • Interpret as-built and redline information and revise plans accordingly

Requirements:

  • English is mandatory
  • Portfolio is mandatory
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, or a related field (desirable)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and other civil engineering design software
  • Experience with land development, public works, grading, and utility design
  • Knowledge of Grading Plans (MUST)
  • Knowledge of Drainage Plans and calculations (MUST)
  • Knowledge of Storm Utility plans and calculations (MUST)
  • Knowledge of Utility plans and calculations for Water, including drawings (MUST)
  • Knowledge of Utility plans and calculations for Sewer, including drawings (MUST)
  • Strong understanding of zoning laws, environmental regulations, and permitting processes
  • Ability to interpret topographic and boundary surveys
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D
  • Knowledge of Storm and Sanitary analysis
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of HEC-RAS / HMS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Comfortable using Hubstaff time tracking software
  • Own computer with internet access
  • Eligible to work remotely from Nicaragua; application asks about U.S. citizenship or work permit
  • Available to use Papaya Global or Payoneer for monthly payments
  • 1.5–2 minute voice note in English required
  • Work samples or portfolio in PDF format required
