Job Description
Associate Therapist providing mental-health treatment within Discovery’s multidisciplinary clinical model. Facilitating therapy groups, assessments, crisis support, utilization reviews, and discharge planning.
Responsibilities:
- Provide treatment services within a dynamic multidisciplinary team according to the Discovery Clinical Model
- Ensure patient safety and provide milieu interventions
- Lead psychoeducational and process-oriented therapy groups
- Facilitate clinical assessments and conduct therapy sessions
- Complete clinical documentation at the time of service
- Establish therapeutic rapport with patients and families/loved ones
- Facilitate admission assessments and the admission process
- Participate in weekly treatment team meetings and communicate treatment goals
- Maintain a caseload of 5–6 patients in RTC and 10–15 in OP level of care
- Complete assigned therapy sessions, including family/support system sessions
- Facilitate process-oriented and psychoeducational groups
- Sit at a meal and/or snack at least once per week
- Facilitate multi-family groups, family programs, and/or family weekends
- Provide utilization reviews to insurance companies for initial and continuing-stay authorization
- Respond to family calls and emails within specified timeframes
- Assess patients for suicidality and danger to self or others
- Provide clinical support for other team members when needed
- Coordinate with Utilization Review and Business Departments regarding authorization and payment
- Begin discharge planning on the day of admission
- Complete discharge sessions and ensure coping skills, transition plans, and resources are understood
- Confirm discharge appointments with patients and loved ones
- Communicate with referral sources and outpatient providers for continuity of care
- Facilitate transfers to higher levels of care as needed
- Participate in clinical outreach and program tours
- Manage crises in sessions and the milieu
- Support milieu staff in interactions with patients and loved ones
- Collaborate with the treatment team and milieu staff to ensure clinical quality
- Provide monthly on-call facility support for RTC roles and return program calls within 20 minutes while on call
Requirements:
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in a relevant field, required
- Completion of state requirements to conduct therapeutic interventions, required
- Operates under supervision and is not fully licensed
- Current driver’s license in good standing
