Job Description

Remote Clinician Scheduler managing complex clinician schedules across hospitals for USACS. Optimizing staffing, provider utilization, budgets, and shift coverage.

Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain schedules for multiple hospital locations 45 days before the start of each month
  • Use Shift Admin scheduling software to auto-generate schedules based on customizations, rules, and weightings
  • Establish relationships with providers to understand scheduling preferences and hard stops
  • Analyze requests, identify conflicts, and determine solutions or escalate when necessary
  • Compile historical-data reports to determine future staffing needs
  • Collaborate with credentialing, RDO, Directors, and other stakeholders to ensure available staffing
  • Coordinate utilization of cross-credentialed providers and days of availability with other clinician schedulers
  • Schedule traveling physicians and optimize site allocation
  • Optimize trades and shift blocking to minimize traveling physician costs
  • Ensure continuity of care, shift equity, and compliance with site-specific scheduling policies
  • Schedule providers according to budgeting tiers and contractual obligations
  • Coordinate outside clinician resources through locum companies when necessary
  • Modify shift maps as directed by site leadership
  • Adjust schedules with Presidents, VPs, Site Directors, and RDOs under immediate deadlines
  • Work with site Physician/APP leaders to finalize schedules before publication
  • Fill anticipated and last-minute open shifts and communicate schedule changes
  • Maintain provider satisfaction and clarify scheduling expectations
  • Investigate and resolve scheduling complaints
  • Set up Shift Admin and apply shifts with pay codes to automate payroll through Workday integration
  • Exercise judgment when deviations from policies are necessary to meet deadlines
  • Communicate terms and premium rates with providers
  • Perform on-call responsibilities when required
  • Escalate to clinician leadership when needed
  • Ensure agreement among stakeholders on scheduling policies and decisions
  • Analyze metrics and communicate results

Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively perform in a multi-task work environment
  • Ability to identify and communicate emerging issues to management
  • Knowledge and skills using Windows personal computers, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Technical ability with scheduling software
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Shift Admin scheduling experience preferred
  • Previous experience working with clinicians preferred
  • Ability to navigate and function under a dual and remote reporting structure
  • Ability to maintain patience and composure in difficult situations
