Job Description

Pro Fee coding specialist reviewing pediatric clinical records for Savista’s healthcare revenue-cycle services. Assigning ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes and abstracting compliant billing data.

Responsibilities:

  • Select and sequence ICD-10 and/or CPT/HCPCS codes for designated patient types, including ancillary, hospital, clinic, physician professional fee, technical fee, and evaluation and management
  • Review and analyze facility records to ensure APC assignments and/or evaluation and management codes accurately reflect documented diagnoses and procedures
  • Abstract clinical data after documentation review to support diagnoses, procedures, and discharge disposition
  • Complete assigned work functions using appropriate resources
  • Act as a resource for client staff regarding data integrity, clarification, and compliant coding practices, including provider queries
  • Participate in client and Savista staff meetings, trainings, and conference calls
  • Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, government regulations, protocols, and third-party coding/billing requirements
  • Interact with client staff and providers as needed

Requirements:

  • Successfully pass pre-employment skills assessment
  • Active AHIMA credential including RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, or active AAPC credential including COC, CCS-P, CPC, or related specialty credential
  • Two years of recent and relevant hands-on coding experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, pathophysiology, ICD-10, and CPT/HCPCS code sets
  • Ability to consistently code at 95% quality threshold while maintaining client-specific and/or Savista production and/or quality standards
  • Proficient computer knowledge, including MS Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel; ability to enter data, sort, and filter Excel files
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with internal and external customers
  • Recent and relevant experience in an active production coding environment strongly preferred
  • Associate degree in HIM or healthcare-related field, or combination of equivalent education and experience preferred
  • Experience using Rcx, Cerner, or NextGen is a plus
  • Maintain patient and provider confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
