Job Description

Medical billing specialist submitting compliant insurance claims for Mosaic Life Care, a Missouri healthcare system. Resolving billing errors and supporting revenue-cycle operations remotely.

Responsibilities:

  • Work the daily electronic billing file and submit insurance claims timely according to payer guidelines
  • Collaborate within the team and with external departments to resolve claim errors
  • Acquire and maintain a general understanding of regulations affecting billing practices
  • Report suspected compliance issues
  • Conduct duties in a professional and timely manner
  • Perform all other duties assigned by departmental leaders
  • Accurately bill claims
  • Meet timely filing deadlines for various payers
  • Bill claims according to compliance and payer guidelines
  • Collaborate with revenue cycle areas and the organization to ensure accurate and timely billing
  • Stay current on compliance and payer policies and share information with other caregivers

Requirements:

  • H.S. Diploma - Required
  • Basic Microsoft application skills required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, with ability to establish priorities effectively
  • Dependable in both production and attendance
  • Professional use of electronic fax, computer, email, Zoom, and telephone
  • Ability to research and review payer policies, guidelines, and compliance guidelines
  • Creative problem-solving skills
  • Medical Terminology knowledge
  • Ability to escalate issues appropriately to leadership
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task as needed
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and explain issues thoroughly
  • Ability to comprehend and retain written and spoken instructions
  • Ability to organize data and manage time
  • Ability to collaborate to resolve billing issues
  • Ability to operate computer, telephone, and fax equipment continuously/repetitively
  • Ability to sit mostly, with occasional walking and standing
  • Hearing, speaking, and visual skills
  • Limited exposure to hazards
  • Ability to work remotely from one of the approved states: Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah, or Virginia
  • Associate's Degree - Preferred
  • 1 year of non-clinical healthcare experience, preferably in revenue cycle - Preferred
