Job Description
Remote medical coding specialist assigning CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes across professional fee, facility, and HCC cases. Supporting CorroHealth’s healthcare reimbursement solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding across a minimum of 1–4 specialties
- Code Professional Fee, Facility, or HCC cases
- Calculate ProFee E/M levels
- Apply ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes to the highest level of specificity available
- Accurately apply ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS diagnosis and procedure codes
- Interpret coding guidelines for accurate code assignment
- Identify the impact of documentation on code assignment and reimbursement
- Follow AHIMA's Standards of Ethical Coding and the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct
- Comply with internal policies and procedures
- Participate in company-provided training and education
- Maintain at least one AAPC or AHIMA credential
- Ensure compliance with privacy and security rules and protect confidential information, including Personal Health Information
- Maintain required productivity, accuracy, and quality standards
- Perform other duties assigned by leadership
Requirements:
- Must be certified through either AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS-P)
- Minimum of 6 months of on-the-job experience
- Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance
- Working knowledge and experience with EMR and billing systems
- Phone, reliable internet connection, and current CPT and ICD-10-CM coding references
- Maintain ongoing productivity and accuracy rate of 95% or higher
- Maintain a quality score of 95% or higher
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing
- Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently from home
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours a day
- Ability to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs. infrequently
