Job Description

Conflicts Analyst conducting legal conflict searches and matter-intake reviews for Butler Snow LLP, a U.S. law firm. Supporting attorneys and leadership with accurate, compliant conflict resolution.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct conflict of interest searches for attorneys and administrative staff using internal systems and external research databases
  • Enter, review, analyze, and maintain conflict and new matter data according to firm policies and procedures
  • Review workflow requests and verify submissions contain key information for processing
  • Research individual and corporate entities to identify relationships and potential conflicts
  • Review conflicts reports for accuracy and completeness, evaluate potential issues, and clear conflicts when appropriate
  • Escalate unresolved or significant issues and follow up with attorneys and management
  • Review and process new client and matter intake documentation before opening
  • Respond to conflict check inquiries and provide system and status support to firm personnel
  • Coordinate with team members and meet deadlines for timely request processing
  • Cover periodic after-hours/weekend on-call shifts at the discretion of the General Counsel's Office

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of three years of conflicts experience in the legal industry preferred
  • J.D. is a plus
  • Exceptional knowledge of legal conflicts and related ethical rules
  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
  • Ability to perform effectively with moderate supervision and within established time limits and ongoing deadlines
  • Ability to ask for and accept direction while taking ownership of and resolving issues
  • Commitment to skill progression and consistent improvement of work quality
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and professionally with attorneys, staff, and colleagues at all levels
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and professionalism in a legal or professional services environment
  • Previous experience with Aderant and/or Intapp preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and web-based applications
  • Strong computer, research, and proofreading skills
