Job Description
Nuclear QA Engineer overseeing nuclear quality programs and ASME Section III compliance at NuScale Power. Supporting audits, supplier qualification, project quality, and QA training.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain NuScale quality assurance program processes
- Write instructions, procedures, and other quality assurance program requirement and guidance documents
- Review NuScale Level 2 and higher procedures for compliance with the QAPD, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, international standards, and the NQAM
- Support ASME Section III supplier qualification and implementation audits, including surveillances
- Conduct internal quality assurance audits, surveillances, and assessments
- Lead or participate in causal analyses
- Lead audits after becoming certified as a Lead Auditor
- Review changes to ASME Code Section III
- Assist Quality Assurance personnel in evaluating Code supplier QA program documents
- Review NuScale procurement documents for ASME Code items and services
- Serve as primary Project Quality representative for 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and/or ASME Code Section III projects
- Provide formal and on-the-job Quality Assurance training to NuScale staff
- Mentor and provide technical guidance, support, and education to Quality Assurance personnel and others performing quality-affecting activities
- Participate in industry initiatives related to QA program trends, NRC concerns, and technological developments
- Interact with the AIA, Code committees, suppliers, and other stakeholders on behalf of NuScale
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Minimum of a B.S. or B.A. degree; a technical degree is preferred
- Alternatively, 8 additional years of full-time, highly relevant working experience (18 years total) may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Minimum of 10 years of experience associated with development and/or implementation of nuclear quality assurance programs
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience implementing an ASME BPVC Section III program, including certification of data reports and interface with Authorized Nuclear Inspectors
- Demonstrated understanding and implementation of ASME BPVC Section III, 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, NQA-1, and other international regulations and standards
- Recent Nuclear QA Project Management experience
- Expertise in ASME Section III
- Excellent writing, presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to successfully manage complex tasks and projects
- Current or previously certified Lead Auditor in an NQA-1 or 10 CFR 50 Appendix B program highly preferred
- Successful candidate must become a certified Lead Auditor
- Experience with ISO 9001 quality requirements in conjunction with NQA-1 and Appendix B desired
- Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810
- Ability to understand and communicate clearly using phones, personal interaction, and computers
- Ability to learn new job functions and comprehend and apply new concepts quickly
- Ability to travel nationally and locally; some international travel may be required
