Job Description
Crop Business Developer growing profitable agency relationships and insurance business across Iowa for Great American Insurance Group. Marketing products, training agencies, evaluating risks, and managing territory performance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop a productive agency plant/territory
- Develop marketing plans for the assigned territory
- Prospect, appoint, and manage agency relationships to achieve production and profitability objectives
- Develop and execute agency action plans as needed
- Review and analyze agents' production and results
- Implement or recommend corrective measures, including modification or cancellation of agency appointments
- Act as a liaison between the company and producers to solve problems
- Market and provide strategic training on company products and services
- Educate agencies on products, practices, services, technology solutions, and integration needs
- Gather, analyze, and maintain competitive information
- Make recommendations based on the competitive landscape and industry trends
- Make profit-oriented risk selection/rejection and pricing decisions within designated authority
- Monitor aggregate quality and pricing for the assigned territory's book of business
- Monitor persistency, placement, and agent/agency debt
- Bind risks in the field and perform risk appraisals
- Assist agents with large or complex accounts during upstart or critical periods
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external customers and coworkers
- Ensure consistency when communicating with agents and brokers
- Administer and apply insurance laws, regulations, underwriting rules, guidelines, and rating manual rules
- Identify opportunities for and potentially spearhead new business or program development
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- Field of study: Agriculture, Liberal Arts, Business, or a related discipline
- Minimum 6 months of related experience in sales and/or agriculture
- Frequent day and overnight travel, up to 80% of time
- Foundational understanding of agency dynamics, marketing, underwriting, and risk management
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build relationships
- Demonstrated decision-making ability and customer-centric mindset
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment visa sponsorship
