Job Description
Data Engineer/BI Developer building secure ETL pipelines, warehouses, and BI dashboards for Xcelerate Solutions’ government technology clients. Delivering compliant data products for strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines for structured and unstructured enterprise data
- Develop SQL scripts, stored procedures, and ETL workflows for data migration and synchronization
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and tune data integration processes
- Participate in Analysis of Alternatives to evaluate enterprise BI architecture solutions
- Design and maintain data warehouse schemas, data marts, and dimensional models
- Collaborate with database administrators on data integrity, performance tuning, indexing, and partitioning
- Develop, publish, and maintain interactive dashboards and paginated reports using Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik
- Translate business requirements into intuitive visualizations communicating trends, KPIs, and anomalies
- Create and maintain BI data models using DAX or MDX
- Implement automated data validation and quality checks
- Ensure dashboards, reports, and data sources comply with Section 508 and WCAG accessibility standards
- Implement row-level security, data masking, and access controls
- Collaborate with software developers, database administrators, and business analysts in an Agile environment to deliver scalable, secure, and compliant data products
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field; equivalent professional experience may be considered
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, BI development, or database development roles
- 3+ years of hands-on experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT pipelines and dimensional data models
- 3+ years of experience developing enterprise-grade dashboards and reports using tools like Power BI or Tableau
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including complex queries, views, and stored procedures
- Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, or C#
- In-depth understanding of data warehousing, ETL methodologies, and data architecture patterns
- Understanding of SDLC and Agile/Scrum methodologies
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication skills for conveying complex data concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Active DoD 8570.01-M / DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification or higher, or willingness to obtain
- U.S. citizenship
- Public Trust or favorably adjudicated Secret Clearance at start
- Must adhere to government cybersecurity policies, OPSEC requirements, and system access regulations
