Job Description
Data Scientist developing tools and insights to enhance efficiency in cybersecurity outcomes at Expel. Collaborating with analysts to automate decisions and improve incident detection.
Responsibilities:
- Support our security analysts by continuously improving alert quality, workflow efficiency, and detection capabilities through advanced analytics, machine learning, and Gen AI.
- Work across our operations, engineering and service delivery teams, ensuring Expel can easily deploy, monitor, and manage all of our machine learning capabilities.
- Drive business decisions by translating data insights into clear, actionable knowledge for the organization.
- Foster an atmosphere of experimentation, continuous learning, and improvement.
- Maintain and enhance our existing models while supporting new data science initiatives.
- Contribute to Expel’s external voice through blog posts and conference speaking.
Requirements:
- Ability and desire to collaborate and work with teams throughout the organization to foster research and innovation
- Ability to communicate technical data science concepts to various audiences, especially non data science experts
- Passion for finding order and meaning in large, chaotic data sets an amorphous problem domains
- Deep proficiency with Python (pandas, numpy, sklearn) and SQL for model development.
- Knowledge of statistics (distributions, hypothesis testing, probability, etc.)
- Proficiency of a few popular data science and visualization frameworks such at scikit-learn, plotly, pandas, and numpy, and the underlying statistics that drive them
- Understanding of data engineering and proven experience with cloud deployment best practices
- Prefers 3+ years of data science experience creating models, analyzing data and drawing conclusions, recommending next steps, and summarizing key results to stakeholders
- A Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, or Computer Science (or equivalent experience in AI/ML).
