Job Description
Data Tester validating financial data across legacy and target systems for Civica’s public-service software. Supporting migration testing, defect resolution, reconciliation, and go-live readiness.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain test plans, scripts, and cases across migration cycles, including mock runs, SIT, UAT, and cutover
- Perform reconciliation checks between source and target systems using mapping specifications
- Write SQL queries to compare record counts, field values, and financial totals
- Log, track, and resolve data defects using tools such as Azure DevOps
- Collaborate with engineers and ETL teams on root cause analysis and issue resolution
- Perform regression testing to confirm fixes and prevent new issues
- Check financial data for duplicates, missing values, incorrect mappings, and broken relationships
- Maintain test evidence, sign-offs, and defect logs
- Report risks, blockers, and readiness for go/no-go decisions
- Participate in go-live activities and post-migration checks
- Align priorities and timelines with UK-based stakeholders
Requirements:
- Ability to write SQL queries for data extraction, joins, filtering, and aggregation
- Experience with reconciliation, sampling, field-level comparisons, and count checks
- Familiarity with JIRA, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, TestRail, or similar tools
- Advanced Excel skills, including XLOOKUP, pivot tables, and formulas
- Understanding of ETL processes and data migration methodology is a strong plus
- Basic to intermediate knowledge of GL, Chart of Accounts, Trial Balance, AP/AR, and Fixed Assets
- Exposure to SAP, Oracle Financials, Workday Financials, or similar ERP systems
- Experience testing data for finance transformations, ERP implementations, or migration projects
- Methodical approach with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication for defect reporting and stakeholder updates
- Comfortable working with UK-based stakeholders across time zones
- Ability to manage competing priorities during test cycles and cutover periods
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, or a related field
- 1–4 years of experience in data testing/QA
- Offshore/onshore delivery model exposure is preferred
