Job Description
Developer Research Coordinator supporting MLH’s developer research through participant panels, qualitative analysis, and census studies. Fully remote contract role serving technology companies and developer communities.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate research studies from start to finish, including participant invitations, scheduling, reminders, follow-ups, and logistics
- Support roughly one substantive study each month, typically involving 10–20 participants
- Manage overlapping research stages, including recruiting, active fieldwork coordination, and processing completed research
- Clean transcripts, organize responses, tag useful quotes, and identify initial themes and patterns using established LLM-assisted workflows
- Critically review AI-generated outputs, verify themes against source material, and flag inaccurate, overstated, or unsupported conclusions
- Produce analysis-ready evidence packs for lead researchers
- Run the developer panel, including recruitment, onboarding, profile maintenance, participant matching, communication, and participant support
- Test onboarding experiences, documentation, code examples, and developer workflows; record confusion or friction
- Support the quarterly MLH Census, including processing and initial analysis across thousands of responses
Requirements:
- Organized and reliable, able to take ownership of defined work and keep it moving independently
- Able to manage research participant logistics from beginning to end
- Experience using LLMs with qualitative material and critically evaluating outputs
- Comfortable navigating developer tools, documentation, GitHub, and code
- No particular programming language or technology stack required
- Interest in developer tools, developer relations, technical education, online communities, or how people learn and build with technology
- Clear, proactive communicator comfortable working independently in a remote environment
- Available to overlap with UK working hours for a few hours each workday
- Bonus: Experience supporting research studies, surveys, interviews, focus groups, participant panels, or community programs
- Bonus: Familiarity with MLH or DEV, community management experience, and comfort writing code or experimenting with developer tools
