Job Description
Software Engineer developing and testing internal Python applications for Salas O’Brien, an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm. Improving workflows, reporting, APIs, and enterprise productivity.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, debug, maintain, and integrate application modules
- Work with internal business units to understand application development requirements
- Develop applications that improve companywide productivity and information sharing
- Contribute to internally developed applications and improve business workflows in the civil engineering space
- Write unit and functional tests and perform manual application testing
- Identify and solve problems with internal applications
- Deliver technical proposals for process improvements, including work and cost savings estimates
- Evaluate existing services/applications, new services/applications, and bespoke development solutions
- Collaborate with regional IT team members and managers on enterprise-wide initiative deployments
Requirements:
- Proficiency in object-oriented Python development; frameworks like FastAPI, Django or Flask preferred
- Experience with front-end JavaScript/TypeScript development; React experience a plus
- Proficiency in SQL and relational databases; working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server a plus
- Ability to work with third-party APIs with little or no official documentation
- 3–5 years of Python experience
- Bachelor's degree or AA in Computer Science, Software Engineering/Development, or another related discipline preferred
