Job Description
Freelance Assistant Editor supporting Veritasium, a leading science and physics YouTube channel. Organising footage, assembling timelines, sourcing B-roll, and assisting editors remotely.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and organise video footage, assets and archives
- Organise and label rushes
- Sync multiple cameras and audio sources into sync maps
- Assemble timelines at the start of an edit
- Create short edits for sponsor sections
- Source B-Roll footage
- Use tools to create transcripts or other reference files accompanying raw footage
- Work closely with editors to support them with B-roll footage
- Insert graphics and replace holders with final A-Roll
- Stay up-to-date with video editing software and techniques
- Report to the in-house Editor
- Support in-house and freelance editors
Requirements:
- 1+ years of experience in edit assisting or junior editing, with an emphasis on digital content creation and experience with YouTube
- Proficiency in video editing software Adobe Premiere and the Creative Cloud
- A strong understanding of YouTube and other social media platforms and how to optimise content for those platforms
- A passion for physics and science
- Good attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Previous experience working with science material is desirable
