Job Description
Editorial intern supporting HarperCollins children’s and young adult book projects. Researching, editing, proofreading, and preparing title information for Zonderkidz, Blink, and DaySpring Kids.
Responsibilities:
- Work alongside the Zonderkidz, DaySpring Kids, and Blink team on children’s and young adult book projects
- Become familiar with Zonderkidz, DaySpring Kids, and Blink production processes
- Learn The Chicago Manual of Style and The Christian Writer’s Manual of Style
- Learn children’s book types, typesettings, layouts, and ancillary features
- Practice content editing, copyediting, content proofreading, and typesetting proofreading
- Prepare title information forms for internal use
- Assist with book-related research
- Provide input on prospective manuscripts and projects
- Attend team meetings, editorial boards, title alignment meetings, and production meetings
Requirements:
- Available to work in a full-time capacity in 2027 or 2028
- Rising seniors, recent graduates, master’s students, or entry level candidates with up to 1 year of work experience
- Available to work 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Resume and cover letter required; cover letter addressed to “Hiring Team”
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an undergraduate or master’s program
- Competent in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
- Strong knowledge of the English language and grammar
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Able to work independently
- Copyediting and proofreading experience preferred
- Passion for books highly valued
