Job Description

Field Service & Application Engineer responsible for installations and support of sensor-based sorting systems in the food processing industry. Travel within Belgium, Netherlands, and Northern Germany required.

Responsibilities:

  • Installation, Commissioning & Modifications: Lead installation, commissioning, and customization of our sensor-based sorting systems at customer sites across the region.
  • Customer Representation & Consulting: Serve as Insort’s representative on customer premises with professionalism and technical confidence. Build strong, long-term customer relationships by assessing needs and advising on new applications and tailored solutions.
  • System & Model Development: Develop, maintain, and optimize application models and algorithms. Integrate solutions into existing systems and ensure they meet customer and product requirements.
  • Maintenance, Optimization & Upgrades: Perform routine maintenance and implement upgrades to improve machine and model performance, ensuring reliable, optimal operation.
  • Diagnostics, Troubleshooting & Field Support: Perform in-depth fault analysis and coordinate with internal specialists for rapid, effective troubleshooting. Provide remote and on-site support to Field Service Engineers.
  • Training, Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Prepare training materials, deliver training sessions for customers and service teams, and contribute to internal knowledge management through data analysis and continuous documentation improvements.

Requirements:

  • Technical Background: Completed training or education in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or a related technical discipline.
  • Hands-On Experience: Previous experience in field service, maintenance, or installations is an advantage.
  • Tool Proficiency: Comfortable reading electrical schematics and using hand tools; able to apply electrical standards and safety practices.
  • Language Skills: Very good command of Dutch and English; German is a plus.
  • Independent & Analytical: Solution-oriented with strong self-organization and a high sense of responsibility.
  • Travel Enthusiast: Willingness to travel more than 80% of the time, including multi-day assignments.
