Job Description
Forward Deployed Engineer deploying conversational AI agents for Hippocratic AI’s healthcare platform. Building RAG pipelines, enterprise integrations, and reliable production systems at customer sites.
Responsibilities:
- Own end-to-end AI deployments for healthcare customers
- Design and implement RAG pipelines grounded in customer clinical data
- Build tool-calling and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations with EHRs, data warehouses, and operational tools
- Develop production Python code using LangChain, LangSmith, and modern AI frameworks
- Apply advanced LLM techniques including RAG, prompt engineering, LLM-as-judge, and chain-of-thought reasoning
- Execute infrastructure setup, integration testing, production monitoring configuration, cutover planning, and go-live activities
- Instrument deployed agents, monitor production systems, respond to incidents, troubleshoot issues, and implement fixes
- Partner with customers as a technical expert and explain AI architecture, capabilities, and limitations
- Build reusable AI patterns and frameworks for future deployments
- Generate evidence that deployed agents improve operational reliability and clinical outcomes
- Collaborate with Deployment Strategists, engineers, clinical experts, product, ML research, and engineering leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
- Strong Python fundamentals and production software development experience
- Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks such as LangChain and LangSmith, or similar
- Deep understanding of modern LLM development patterns and best practices
- Deep expertise in retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, tool calling, LLM-as-judge, and related advanced patterns
- Experience building integrations with APIs, databases, or enterprise systems
- Comfort with async patterns, error handling, and reliability engineering
- Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time to customer sites across the United States
- Ability to travel to the Menlo Park headquarters quarterly
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Preferred: Experience with MCP or similar frameworks, healthcare IT and EHR integrations, FHIR, HL7, production DevOps or infrastructure, AI systems in production, mission-critical or safety-sensitive systems, and startup or high-growth technology environments
