Job Description
Controller specializing in accounting for youth sports non-profits at Club Capital. Ensuring financial compliance and reporting while managing a team of accountants.
Responsibilities:
- Manage fund accounting, including tracking and reporting on restricted and unrestricted funds.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for non-profits.
- Apply knowledge of youth sports operations to provide tailored accounting support.
- Serve as the primary liaison between clients and Club Capital’s internal tax team, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
- Coordinate with the internal team on Form 990 and other required filings, keeping clients informed throughout the process.
- Assist clients in navigating tax notices or state compliance inquiries, providing guidance and working closely with the tax team to resolve issues.
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and financial reports tailored to youth sports non-profits.
- Lead cash flow projections, variance analysis, and scenario planning.
- Present financial results and forecasts to Executive Directors and Boards of Directors, providing clear guidance on opportunities, risks, and corrective actions.
- Supervise, mentor, and manage staff accountants.
- Oversee task management, deadlines, and workflow execution across multiple clients.
- Foster a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
- Identify opportunities to streamline financial workflows and implement best practices tailored to non-profits and youth sports organizations.
Requirements:
- 5 to 10 years of accounting experience; bookkeeping, public accounting, small business accounting, or similar understanding of accounting.
- Bachelor’s in Accounting or Business, or equivalent experience.
- No less than 2 years of related experience with at least 18 months in a client-facing role.
- Prior involvement in youth sports organizations (employment, board service, or volunteer experience required).
- Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, analytics, and cash flow management.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Fathom, payroll platforms and bill pay tools.
- Ability to communicate financial insights to executive leadership and Boards.
- Excellent task management skills with the ability to oversee projects and meet deadlines.

- Well organized with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to provide exceptional client service while developing lasting relationships.
