Job Description

Assistant or Associate Professor of Psychology teaching online courses at University of Massachusetts Global. Engaging in student mentorship and clinical training support in a remote setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, maintain, assess, and teach online courses within the Psychology program (including MFT related coursework), ensuring alignment with program outcomes and accreditation and professional standards.
  • Mentor and support students, adjunct faculty, staff, and other program stakeholders to promote student success and program quality.
  • Engage actively in clinical training processes, including supporting students in securing, navigating, and successfully completing practicum and/or internship placements in collaboration with community partners and clinical sites.
  • Assist in the coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of practicum/internship experiences to ensure alignment with program requirements, clinical competencies, and applicable licensure-track expectations.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community mental health agencies, clinics, and other practicum sites to expand and sustain high-quality training opportunities.
  • Participate in service to the discipline, profession, and institution, including committee work, assessment activities, and community engagement, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrate professional and collegial conduct that fosters mutual respect, trust, transparent communication, and appropriate confidentiality with faculty, staff, and university leadership.
  • Contribute to ongoing program development, assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned in collaboration with the Dean, consistent with faculty role expectations outlined in the Faculty Manual.

Requirements:

  • Earned Doctorate (PhD, PsyD, or closely related field) in Psychology or a related discipline from an accredited institution; ABD candidates may be considered with degree completion by start date.
  • Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field (as applicable to program needs).
  • Minimum of two (2) years of post-master’s professional clinical experience in a mental health or related practice setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical training environments, including supervision, coordination, or instruction in practicum and/or internship settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to support students in securing and successfully completing clinical placements, including collaboration with external agencies and site supervisors.
  • Experience teaching in higher education, preferably in online asynchronous modalities.
  • Commitment to student-centered teaching and supporting a diverse adult learner population.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and delivering current, market-relevant, and engaging curriculum, assessments, and learning activities in an online-first LMS.
  • Experience applying data-informed approaches to enhance student success and retention.
  • Ability to engage collegially and collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and external clinical partners.
