Job Description

General Accountant supporting UK clients with full-cycle accounting. Handling financial reporting, reconciliations, and compliance with UK accounting standards in a remote role.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle accounting processes, including journal entries, accruals, and general ledger maintenance
  • Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting schedules
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures
  • Prepare management accounts and financial reports
  • Ensure accounting records comply with UK GAAP and HMRC regulations
  • Process vendor invoices and manage accounts payable
  • Prepare and issue customer invoices
  • Monitor and manage accounts receivable and collections
  • Maintain accurate customer and supplier ledgers
  • Perform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies
  • Maintain reconciliation documentation and schedules
  • Prepare and assist with VAT returns
  • Support HMRC compliance requirements
  • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping
  • Assist with year-end accounts preparation
  • Prepare monthly management reports
  • Assist with budgeting and forecasting
  • Support preparation of financial reports for directors and external accountants
  • Work closely with UK-based finance teams, accountants, and business owners
  • Respond to accounting-related queries
  • Assist with financial analysis and reporting needs

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–7 years of accounting experience
  • Experience working with UK companies or UK accounting processes
  • Solid knowledge of UK GAAP and VAT regulations
  • Experience with accounting software such as:
  • Xero
  • Sage
  • QuickBooks
  • or similar accounting platforms
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Excellent English communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • CPA (Philippines) or ACCA / CIMA exposure is an advantage (preferred)
  • Experience preparing VAT returns and management accounts (preferred)
  • Experience supporting UK small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) (preferred)
  • Familiarity with tools such as:
  • Dext / Receipt Bank
  • Hubdoc
  • Stripe
  • PayPal
  • Wise
  • Experience working in outsourcing or offshore accounting environments (preferred)
