Job Description
Grants Program Manager overseeing sponsored research funds, budgets, and compliance at the University of Notre Dame. Supporting faculty and researchers across the research lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and maintain award funds and accounts
- Provide budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight services
- Review expenditures for allowability, allocability, and reasonableness
- Communicate grant terms and conditions to project teams with a focus on compliance
- Navigate research administration systems and guide faculty and staff in their use
- Anticipate and proactively address researchers’ needs
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Manage high-stakes conversations around policy, compliance, and regulations
- Work independently with minimal oversight while collaborating with the wider team
- Balance competing priorities and deadlines efficiently and professionally
- Participate in regular feedback and development conversations with supervisors
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 3+ years of professional work experience
- Ability to interpret and apply federal and non-federal regulations to sponsored projects
- Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret and apply complex policies and regulations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to engage professionally with diverse stakeholders
- Proficiency in research administration systems
- Strong organizational, time, and project management skills
- Ability to perform under pressure with confidence
- Ability to provide mentorship to junior colleagues for senior-level candidates
- Preferred senior-level qualifications: 3+ years in higher education grants management; knowledge of eRA systems, sponsor systems, compliance, and regulatory requirements; Certified Research Administrator (CRA) credential; experience mentoring or training junior staff; graduate-level coursework in financial accounting or related areas
